I’m sure most parents would agree, the feeling of spending countless amounts of money on toys that now collect dust is not a great one. Brit and I usually go through and do a “toy purge” every few months in an effort to prevent toys from taking over the entire house.
During this clean up effort there is one toy that never comes close to the purge list: Magna-Tiles. These are easily one of the best toys I’ve come across. Think of building blocks, add a ton of tiny magnets, and then try not to smile with joy. We bought our first set about a year ago and they are still one of Cambree’s favorite toys. We have since bought a few more sets so now we have a couple hundred blocks to work with, which means you can create some really awesome things.
Why I like Magna-Tiles:
- Kid and adult friendly
- Encourages creativity
- Encourages problem solving and more
WARNING: Do not buy the imitation forms of these (there are several). Most of the cheaper versions have low-quality magnets that do not compare to Magna-Tiles. This could lead to a frustrated kid, and we don’t want that!
If there is a downside to these, it would be that the block sets aren’t cheap. Also, they do not go on sale, or if they do the discount is minimal. However, we’ve found that the cost has been well worth it because they provide hours and hours of entertainment.
If you’re looking to add a new toy to your kid’s toy box that should be well received, I’d highly recommend these. Check out the links below to see some of the sets that are on Amazon right now. If you find a better place to purchase these, please let me know.
